Discussion:
Do satellite TV services still require landlines for phone connections?

Hi!

IIRC, they did in the past. Do they still require it these days for my
future home? Or can they be done wirelessly with their dishes?

Thank you in advance. :)

Can't speak for Bell, but I recently bought a new (small footprint) HD
receiver from Shaw Direct and it doesn't _have_ a phone jack. It means
you can't do pay-per-view is all. I've never used or even understood
pay-per-view anyway. They used to want a landline connection if you had
a bunch of receivers, make sure you weren't sharing the service with
someone else, but I guess that's not an issue.

Wow, I didn't know Shaw had a satellite service. I thought it only did
cable. :)

Well, it would be in a family house with about four/five TVs. We don't
care about pay per view. Just local broadcast channels and others for
the lowest TV packages.

It was called StarChoice for years, but owned by Shaw. They renamed it
Shaw Direct a couple of years ago.

Verizon we don't get here.

What is it about PPV that you don't understand? I thought it's name
sort of said it all.

Yeah, yeah. You know what I mean. If you don't, I don't really care.

No, but that's ok.
